Cinco de Mayo is a holiday celebrating Mexico's victory over French forces in the battle of Puebla. It's observed all over Mexico and the United States with fiestas, Mexican food and drinks. It is a great excuse for a fun office party and offers you and your co-workers a nice break from a hard day's work. Food
Set up a taco bar for your Cinco de Mayo party, complete with taco shells, meats and all the fixings ready for party goers to assemble. Nachos with cheese dip, guacamole and a variety of salsas make nice appetizers. Virgin margaritas or lime punch can be served as the main beverage. Music and Decorations String chili pepper lights, decorate the walls with mini Mexican flags and have sombreros on the tables. However, if you don't have the money to go all out, you can simply use solid-color decorations in the colors of the Mexican flag: green, white and red. Traditionally, Cinco de Mayo is celebrated with mariachi music; but for an office party, you're probably better off using your phone or Pandora. That works just as well and saves on the office party budget!! Party Favors or Raffles For offices that want to go all out, party favors could include maracas; small gift items with a chili pepper theme, such as chili pepper ties or jewelry. Again if you want to watch your budget, you can take the items above and make a small little gift bag and use it as a raffle prize Games No Cinco de Mayo party would be complete without a pinata. Fill the pinata with candy and let your co-workers take turns. You do not have to be blind folded, it is about having fun and not having co-workers being embarrassed. You can ask each department to contribute a small bag of candy
