Focus on Floors
Now that winter's snow and ice have gone, it's a great time to give hard floors and carpets a deep-clean
Freshen "the facilities."
Give restrooms a once-over with fresh-smelling cleaner and disinfectant, then add air fresheners for a fresh, springtime scent.
Enhance your entrance...inside and out!
Improve your company's first impression by freshening up the entry and the area around it. Use the new season as a reason to spiff up your lobby or waiting area, too!
Put unused office supplies back to work!
Create a collection area where employees can drop off supplies they no longer use, and let co-workers "shop" for items they might find useful...at no cost!
Groom your break-room!
Clean out the fridge, scrub out the microwave and wash those coffee pots! Wipe down counters with disinfectant cleaners, too.
One minute you’re making sure the Management Team are prepared for their BIG meeting with investors and offering your opinion on what they should have prepared and helping with their last minute edits to their presentations, the next you’re sorting through mail, fielding phone calls all while you are helping another co-worker with a project they need help with. You’re definitely not limited to one type of task and there is no doubt that without you the office would come tumbling down!
So you often ask, “who am I?” … that is simple right?!?! The administrative assistant.
Being an administrative assistant: easy right?! No, it is not an easy job…Okay, wait. What?
If we were to walk into an elementary school, middle school, high school or even a college and ask a bunch of people what their “dream job” is, how many do you think would say it was an administrative assistant?
Slim to none right. This job does not exactly have the reputation for being exciting, particularly rewarding and even being entry level. When one really deep-dives into this position, it can be exciting and rewarding and in some cases it is not an entry level position.
Today’s administrative assistant is pretty different from 10 | 5 | 2 years from now, HECK it is different from a week ago! You are the right hand man/woman of the President | CEO | Manager. You are intricate with what is happening in the company and need to be quick on your feet with the needs of the business. Let’s face it, everyone is depending on you.
You’re really the person who is making sure that all things are running efficiently. Because administrative assistants are support systems and the life-life to the company. Seems simple, but it’s not their days will vary depending on the schedules of the employees of the company.
Your Job is easy you have a short task list…what are you thinking Administrative Assistants task list are ongoing and are never the same
The kinds of things that an administrative assistant does will also change depending on what industry and what type of company they’re working for.
Smaller companies may not have “administrative assistant,” but they will have admin team or an office manager. They still have the same duties and stress even added responsibilities like applying bills, clerical work, cleaning the list goes on
This means you’re doing everything necessary to keep the company SANE.
Apart from basic clerical knowledge, administrative assistants working in specific rolls have to an understanding of those particular procedures, writing language, legal work, medical knowledge again the list goes on. Being an administrative assistant at a financial office, police station, library, medical office or park district you have specific items to learn and may even have to take some extra education classes.
Although the job will vary depending on the industry and size of the company, it is still a fun and rewarding job.
When your days are done being an administrative assistant and you are looking to “move up” in the world remember this: YOU ARE VALUED and YOU HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO ALL THE SUCCESSES THE COMPANY HAS ACHIEVED.
And to any employer reading this, do not toss a resume when you see past employment history of Administrative Assistant. Remember they are the ones who have helped their previous company grow and succeed. Administrative assistants are:
So what I am trying to say a couple of things:
learn the basic differences between tapes and get ideas for using tape in unique ways to solve everyday problems
Tape 101 What's the Difference?
Doing a job right means starting out with the proper tools. Each one of Scotch Brand Tapes is designed to address a particular range of applications. Don't let the wrong tape keep your project from turning out perfect.
Get Organized with Washi Tape
With so many colors and patterns to choose from, washi tape makes it easy to distinguish between items at a glance. You can use it to differentiate electrical cords, keep glasses separate at a party, keep a calendar in order or label containers. To take your organizing to the next level you can even write on it in pen or pencil.
Fix a Frayed Shoelace
If you need to replace an aglet, the plastic or metallic tube at the end of your shoelace, look no further than Scotch MultiTask Tape. Simply wrap the tape around the frayed part to form a replacement cylinder. You can also use washi or decorative duct tape to personalize your shoelaces and add a pop of color.
Arranging Flowers with Scotch Magic Tape
Make sure your vases work harder with Scotch Magic Tape. Using strips of the same length, make an evenly spaced grid across the top of a vase (although the one in the photo is square, a round vase will work just as well).
Then, simply stick your flowers in the empty squares between the tape. This will ensure your arrangement will stand up straight without having to crowd flowers together or loading it with filler.

Delivers easy, jam-free stapling of up to 20 sheets using standard staples. Built-in staple storage and flip-out staple remover. Opens for bulletin board tacking. Made with over 30% recycled materials. Three-year limited warranty. Comes in black/gray
ONE FINGER STAPLING POWER
That's what it says on the box and the folks at PaperPro must be serious as they actually trademarked the phrase. Time to take their EcoStapler for a test drive.
Upon removing the stapler from the box, we were surprised at how light it was. It has a nice sleek look and it's gray and black color scheme is easy on the eyes. The manufacturer states that stapling is "80% easier as a result of their One-Finger technology" and that this little eco-friendly fellow (manufactured with over 30% post-consumer recycled plastic), will handle up to 20 sheets no problem. Putting it to the test, we have to say that stapling is remarkably easy. One easy touch with your fingertip and you have a stack of standard stapled papers, (with apologies to Peter Piper). You can also open the stapler to take on tacking tasks, making this an ideal stapler for teacher and other folks who hang around bulletin boards.
It offers a full-strip (210) staple capacity and loads easily with standard staples, which is always a positive. Top that off with Jam-Free technology that prevents staple jams, quiet operation and a three (3)-Year Limited Warranty and we think this stapler is a keeper!!
Happy National Hostess Twinkie Day!
On this day in 1930 that yummy little snack cake was invented by James Alexander Dewar, a baker for the Continental Baking Company, calling it "the best darn-tootin' idea I ever had."
You see one day when Dewar was looking around the bakery, he realized that several machines used to make cream-filled strawberry shortcake sat idle when strawberries were out of season. He created a snack cake filled with banana cream to use those machines, and named it the Twinkie after a billboard he saw in St. Louis for “Twinkle Toe Shoes”
And history was made!
What happened to the banana filling?During World War II, bananas were rationed and the company was forced to switch to vanilla cream. The vanilla cream was extremely popular, and banana-cream Twinkies soon fell to the wayside.
In 2005, Hostess brought back the banana filling for a month-long promotion of the movie King Kong. Twinkie sales rose 20 percent during the promotion! Taking the hint, Hostess added the banana filling officially back in their snack lineup in 2007.
But things were not always rosy in the Twinkie world…On May 4, 2012, Hostess filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. One of the contributing factors was America’s attempt to eat a bit healthier. Twinkie sales for the year ended December 25, 2011, were 36 million packages which was down almost 2% from the year before. On November 16, 2012, Hostess officially filed a motion with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court seeking permission to close its business and sell its assets, including its iconic brands and facilities. Bakery operations were suspended at all plants.
America watched in horror as their favorite treat disappeared off the shelves.
Suddenly, you could find Twinkies on Ebay for exorbitant pricing. Folks were paying hundreds of dollars for an elusive box of Twinkies. Which by the way, it is only a wives tale that a Twinkie would last forever. The shelf life at the time for Twinkies was really only about 25 days
Return of Twinkies to US marketThe sun came out on March 12, 2013, when the world learned that Twinkies would return to store shelves in May of that year. You see, Twinkies, along with other famed Hostess Brands, were purchased out of bankruptcy by Apollo Global Management and Metropoulos & Co. Twinkies officially returned to US shelves on July 15, 2013.
Life was good again!
Back – but not quite the same…The new Twinkies are smaller and now contain 135 calories and have a mass of 38.5 grams; while the original Twinkies contained 150 calories and had a mass of 42.5 grams. They also have a longer shelf life of 45 days!
Diagnoses of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have been steadily rising for many years. Today, 1 in 68 children are diagnosed with ASD. Now more than ever, it’s important for everyone to be educated about autism and how to support individuals and families affected by ASD.
As a spectrum disorder, ASD affects people in different ways. While one person with ASD may exhibit significant disability, another may not show any signs except under stress. Some may have strong conversation skills, while others lack the ability to speak. One person may have above average intelligence, while another is cognitively delayed. People with ASD also may have unusual reactions to sensory input, and may exhibit behaviors that appear suspicious, heightened because they are experiencing stress.
Since 1971, AuSM has offered individuals with autism from birth through retirement a place to learn, access services, and develop skills for navigating what can initially be foreign emotions and information. AuSM helps individuals build a community – one that acts without judgment, searches for new possibilities, and connects families, professionals, and the world to each other.
Join AuSM this April to celebrate Autism Awareness Month, a time for our community to come together to educate others about autism. Twist Office Products is partnering with AuSM to sell puzzle pieces, share information, and increase awareness.
