Staying healthy during the holidays isn't always easy. Parties, family dinners and all that sugar can make it difficult to eat healthy.
By making some special efforts on days when you have no parties or dinners and by not fasting on the day of the party, you can have your cake and eat it too. On days when you are free, make plans to eat healthy. What should you do before you leave for a party or open house? Eat. Yes, by eating a protein rich snack like peanuts or a yogurt you can enjoy the holiday food without feeling like you need two desserts.
When eating out at a restaurant, try to order healthy sides like a salad with dressing on the side. No substitutes available? Ask the waiter to split your plate in two and wrap up half before it's served.
If you do overindulge, don't worry. You can always make smarter choices the next day and throw in a little exercise. Here's to a healthy and happy holiday season.
